This foreign missionary program of Louis and Anne Carter is designed to teach missionary and national doctors plastic, reconstructive and hand surgery in their hospitals and on their patients with their equipment and supplies. Anne teaches operating room staff how to assist on these procedures and how to care for the delicate plastic and hand surgery instruments that the Carters carry to each hospital.
This program facilitates rapid learning of new techniques in a missionary or national doctor's own environmemt and on their patient population. It helps the missionary physician determine what procedures will best benefit his patients assuming difficulties in obtaining postoperative physical or occupational therapy and often in adequate followup due to lack of compliance, travel distance and /or expenses.
The Carters work under SIM International, Serving in Mission (previously Sudan Interior Mission) and Christian Medical and Dental Associations.
