Dr. Louis and Anne Carter

Louis and Anne Carter are full-time missionaries with SIM International, an independent evangelical protestant mission organization that was initially known as Sudan Interior Mission. Since other mission organizations have joined SIM and since SIM now serves on other continents other than just Africa and the name has been changed but the initials remain the same. .The present name is Serving in Mission.

Louis grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, and trusted the Lord as his Savior when six years old. He commited his life to full- time missions when he was 16 at Winona Lake Bible Conference in Winona Lake, Indiana. Anne grew up in Oakfield, Tennessee, just outside of Jackson, Tennessee. Anne trusted in Christ on her second date with Louis and later felt an independent call into full-time missions.

Louis and Anne met while Louis was working at Methodist Hospital in Memphis during the summer and when Anne was a student nurse there. They were traditional missionaries in Nigeria for 10 years between 1974 and 1987., working at both Egbe and Evangel Hospital. After 8 1/2 years in Chattanooga with the Plastic and Hand Surgery Groups, God led us back into full-time medical missions and into an itinerant type ministry. We have two children, David and Laney. David teaches 7th grade Bible and coaches football and soccer at Evangelical Christian School in Memphis . Shannon Heinz, his wife also teaches and coaches at ECS. Laney is an interior designer in Chattanooga and her hustband.John, runs the "The Little Green House" in downtown Chattanooga.
